Bio
Francine Boer, originally from the Netherlands, now lives in Kingston, Otago with her partner and almost 2-year-old. As a passionate visual storyteller, Fran captures people and their stories in their surroundings, always seeking a lasting connection with both the land and the people she photographs. Her work reflects her love for an adventurous lifestyle, and she brings this sense of adventure into every project.
When Fran biked to primary school each morning, she would greet the people she passed along the way. Her friend once asked if she knew them, to which she replied that she didn’t—but it never stopped her from reaching out. This small moment stayed with her, and it now influences her work as a photographer. She loves connecting with people, hearing about their passions, and learning more about their unique paths in life.
Fran believes we all spend our lives learning something deeply personal and specific, and she hopes her photography can encourage others to empathise and take an interest in the stories of those around them. Just as much as she enjoys sharing these stories through her lens, she’s continuously learning from the people she meets.
