Bio
At 14 years old, Amanda Aitken started in the photo lab - printing, selling cameras and hobby shooting in the days of film. A great foundation to learn the technical aspects of light and colour. After 8 years in labs, Amanda moved to London and began her career as a professional photographer. Her role as Head Photographer had her in charge of a large team, responsible for their creative performance and looking after high profile clients for a marketing firm.
Fast-forward to today, Amanda is back home in New Zealand living her dream shooting architecture, interiors and a range of advertising work. After 16 years in business shooting stills and 7 years video, Amanda has the same passion and drive for interpreting her environment in the most creative and inspirational way.
Amanda’s warm personality (a bit introverted) and calm manner compliment the efficiency and professionalism of her work. She pays close attention to details and connecting key elements. Whether in collaboration with directors, or on her own accord, Amanda's aim is nothing less than making magic with visuals that exceed expectations.
On a personal note, Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 teen daughters. Māori culture is highly valued in her whanau. She loves camping around NZ, kayaking, walking trails (though the battle of hauling teenagers on a walk is definitely not enjoyable).
Amanda was lucky enough to adventure the world while living in London, diving in Egypt (engagement spot 30 meters underwater in The Canyon), swimming with Great Whites in South Africa, ANZAC day at Gallipoli and more - she thrives on adventure, challenge and hard mahi (work).
